Laos Insight


After breakfast, enjoy a full day city tour to the outstanding points in Luang Prabang including the National Museum, the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun, the shrine of Wat Mai and Wat Xieng Thong. Then, climb up to the top of Phousi Mountain to explore the sacred, gilded stupa, as well as admire stunning sunset view of the city and the Mekong River. Next, head to visit the Night Market, which offers you a  lot of beautiful crafts and handmade textiles sold by the local and hill tribe people from the surrounding area. Day 3: Luang Prabang – Kuang Si Waterfall (Breakfast)

Welcome the morning with a nice drive out of the town 30 km to the beautiful Kuang Si Waterfall, which is an ideal place to swim, relax and soft trek to the top of the fall. Stop to visit a Black Hmong village to buy hill tribe handicrafts as souvenirs.  Once back in town, you will have the rest of the day free to indulge in an afternoon tea or coffee at one of the many stylish cafes and bars as you people watch or plan some shopping.  In the evening, enjoy local dishes at the restaurant. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 4: Luang Prabang – Pak Ou Caves (Breakfast)

Pak-Ou-cave


After breakfast, experience a boat trip up the Mekong River to admire the stunning beauty of Pak Ou Caves, which are filled with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes. The cruise offers a beautiful view of the tranquil countryside on your way. You will stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where they make a distillation of local rice wine. Take a short drive to Ban Xang Khong, well known for its hand weaving on the way back to Luang Prabang. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 5:  Luang Prabang – Textile Village – Elephant Camp (Breakfast)
After breakfast, drive out of the town to visit the elephant camp at Ban Ann. On the way, stop to visit the famous village of Ban Phom Nom, where weavers and crafts people made souvenirs for the last king of Laos. Next, visit the Henri Mouhot monument in Kang Noon.  He was a Frenchman, best known for being credited with discovering Angkor Wat and who died of malaria while on his fourth trip to Laos.  After that, continue to the camp, and upon your arrival, your guide will brief you about the elephants before you set out on a one hour tour before returning to town in the afternoon. The rest of the day is yours free to rest and relax or explore the town on your own.

Day 6: Luang Prabang – Vientiane (Breakfast, Dinner)

Vientiane-tour


After breakfast, enjoy free time until transferring to the airport for a flight to Vientiane. Upon arrival at the capital, you will be picked up to the hotel.  In the afternoon, start a tour of the major sights of the capital to famous points such as Wat Sisaket (a temple with thousands of miniature Buddha statues), the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo (previous home of the famous Emerald Buddha Image), the That Luang Stupa and the imposing Patuxay Monument (known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph). In the evening, enjoy special food at a local restaurant. Overnight in Vientiane.

Day 7: Vientiane – Pakse – Boliven Plateua – Pakse (Breakfast)

In the morning, take a flight to Pakse, where you will be transferred to Saravanh province via Tateng. The bubbling water and lush vegetation around Tad Fan Waterfall make for a spectacular view.  You will make a stop en route to observe the traditional local tea and coffee making activity and learn about life in the Boloven Plateau area. The cultivation of rich coffee, tea, cardamom, bananas, and other crops are common, and visitors are encouraged to venture off the beaten path and explore some of the lesser-known areas of the region.   Upon arrival at Tad Lo Waterfall, continue to visit Alak, Nge and Katu villages.  Overnight in Pakse.

After breakfast, head to Khong Island and visit the pre-angkoran ruins of Wat Phu, one of Southeast Asia's most dramatically situated temples. This is the chance to explore these Khmer ruins, which are perched atop a hill and recognized the World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 2001. This wonderful archeological site dates back to the 9th Century. Overnight in Don Khong.
